In the broadest sense, my research is concerned with delineating the relationship between perception and oppression. More specifically, the three streams of my research program contend with the ways that demographic facts (e.g., race, gender) become psychological factors in the ways that individuals perceive the world. The first aspect of my program of research elucidates the cognitive processes undergirding the perception of racism. The second aspect of my research relates to the measurement and evaluation of institutional climate in higher education. Finally, the third aspect of my research program explores the ways that student evaluations of college teaching are affected by faculty race and gender.
